Council of Arab Ambassadors in Japan visit foreign minister Hayashi

TOKYO: The Council of Arab Ambassadors to Japan paid a courtesy call to Japan’s Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi on Monday and thanked him for Japan’s support to the Arab world.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Hayashi and his ambassador discussed Ukraine, the situation in East Asia, and the Middle East peace issue. The two leaders agreed to work closely both bilaterally and in international fora.

Mr. Hayashi said that Japan attaches great importance to its long-standing friendly relations with Arab countries, and expressed his desire to further strengthen cooperation with the Arab world, including bilateral exchanges.

In response, Waleed Ali Sham, representative of Palestine, and representative of the Council of Arab Ambassadors to Japan stated that they recognized Japan’s role and support in the Arab world, and said that the Board hoped to further develop Japan-Arab relations.

Prime Minister Siam delivered a speech of condolences over the assassination of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. He said.

He also led the Japanese delegation to TICAD8 in Tunisia and congratulated Mr. Hayashi on his election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 12th time.
